The Gap Project
The Gap Project works with young people in Tower Hamlets aged between 13-17 years of age who have experienced or who are at risk of experiencing, educational, personal, and social exclusion through a variety of circumstances. This means they will not be meaningfully engaged in education, employment or training.
The project offers a diverse range of activities, resources and relational support in order to equip young people who struggle to connect into the world of learning and work. This service includes an accredited Sports Leaders Award, literacy support via our programme ‘That Reading Thing’, and group work based on the emotional literacy national curriculum framework, ‘Getting Connected’.
We have launched the first peer-support group in Tower Hamlets called East Girlz for young women who struggle with the issue of self-harm. This comes under our wider work to help vulnerable young women in their personal development. If you would like to know more about this particular area of work, please contact Marcia Haley on the form below.
The project is in partnership with a number of local voluntary and statutory agencies. For more information see www.thegapproject.org or contact staff Lisa Young, Phil Warburton, Mark Hutchings and Sarah Warburton on the form below.
