Ashes to Go!
Members of 5 Bethnal Green churches including a team from BGMC did something different this Ash Wednesday morning by offering ‘Ashes to Go’ at the entrances of Bethnal Green tube station. At the start of Lent, we decided to offer people a chance to be ‘ashed’ with the sign of the cross on the forehead in ash as a symbol of our humility before God, a physical sign of our inner spiritual needs. We also had the spontaneous idea of giving out (not so) hot-cross buns. Fortunately we managed to get the ashing and the eating in the right order. Many thanks to all those involved, it was great to work with our friends from other churches in Bethnal Green.
